The fish seem to have turned on, weather has been great throughout July, and water temps are staying in the Low-Mid 70's. The panfish, perch and bass are great right now. Rock humps and weedlines are top producers. Northerns have been great up in Norweign Bay and Treasure Island area. Swimbaits, small Mepps, and husky jerks have been top picks. Walleyes have been up and down, but everyone is catching a few, a few top picks for spots have been the Twin Islands 13-18ft, Hibbing Point 16-21 ft, Turtle Island 18-23ft, and East Side of Taylors Island in about 18ft. Lindy Rigs, black jigs, and slip bobbers. The crawler bite is slow on the west end, while the leech is still doing all the work. Muskies are definitely in full swing while both rocks and weeds are producing fish. The late nite bite has been best over the past week with almost all the fish coming after dark. Double 8's during the day, and double 10's after dark. A few crankbait fish and topwater action but 99% has been on blades!! Stay tuned!! |
