Weekly Fishing Report - (May 15th - 25th)

Opening fishing has come and gone. Fishing overall, was tougher than a normal opener, which is normally freezing water/air temps, long-johns, parkas, and mittens. This year we had bluebird 80 degrees and flat calm. Pretty tough walleye fishing. Walleyes were scattered in all depths, no distinct patterns, but the walleyes that were caught, were caught early morning 12-18ft from 5-7 AM until the sun came on strong, and then again in the evening for the last hour before dark in 8-12ft of water. Fish were caught trolling shad-raps with a pause, lindy rigs, jigs, and slip bobbers. Of the walleyes that were caught, many were in the slot and a few over the 26" mark. There were a number of fish caught from 22"-25", and few of them were someone's personal best. Congrats to Al S., Brett and Don C., Terry M.. And for the overall highlight of opener, THE CRAPPIE FISHING!!! The crappie fishing was amazing to say the least!!! From thursday to sunday of opener, there were over 300 crappies kept throughout the resort and most were 10-14" and a few around 15". Slip bobber with a crappie minnow, in 5-8ft of water. Notorious Black Bay and Norweigan Bay were top producers. Other noteables, were a few smallmouth bass 18-20". And a couple northerns 35" & 36". Muskies have been seen cruising the bays, and the bass have been spotted by the docks..."should be on their beds soon"
Have a safe Memorial Day weekend!!

Weekly Fishing Report - (May 25th - June 12th)

Over the past few weeks all species have turned on. Many of our guests did well into the night with lighted slip bobbers tipped with a leech on rock humps (4-12ft). Daytime walleyes were a little tougher, but leeches and minnows were 50/50. Walleyes during the day were still in shallower water, but the occasional deep fish were caught, but the majority were in 8-14ft of water. Lindy and leech or jig/minnow. The crappies are still hanging around but not in mass quantities, just a few here and there tight to the weeds. Tons of panfish, bass, northern, and perch, and a few muskies. Northerns were excellent the past week for a few guys using swimbaits, congrats to Blaine and Nick from Colorado. Here are some other highlights and noteables:

Jerome Morris- Lakeville, MN......................40" & 42" muskie
Steve Farmer- Louisville, KY........................44" muskie
Josh Farmer- Louisville, KY.........................19" smallmouth
Steve Rogers- Austiin, MN.............................28.5" & 23" walleye
Jeff Kelly- Bloomington, MN..........................27", 24", 23" walleye
Jeff peterson- Mounds View, MN..................24" & 23" walleye
Paula Couch- Deerfield, IL............................24" walleye
Joe Witty- Dewey, AZ.......................................21" walleye, 25" northern, 18"smallmouth

Mayflies are starting to show themselves a little early this year, but has not affected fishing, the past week had alot of changing weather patterns. Weather for the upcoming week looks consistent and should spark some good all-around fishing. Stay tuned and we'll have more info in the near future.

Weekly Fishing Report - (July 21st)

The fish seem to have turned on, weather has been great throughout July, and water temps are staying in the Low-Mid 70's. The panfish, perch and bass are great right now. Rock humps and weedlines are top producers. Northerns have been great up in Norweign Bay and Treasure Island area. Swimbaits, small Mepps, and husky jerks have been top picks. Walleyes have been up and down, but everyone is catching a few, a few top picks for spots have been the Twin Islands 13-18ft, Hibbing Point 16-21 ft, Turtle Island 18-23ft, and East Side of Taylors Island in about 18ft. Lindy Rigs, black jigs, and slip bobbers. The crawler bite is slow on the west end, while the leech is still doing all the work. Muskies are definitely in full swing while both rocks and weeds are producing fish. The late nite bite has been best over the past week with almost all the fish coming after dark. Double 8's during the day, and double 10's after dark. A few crankbait fish and topwater action but 99% has been on blades!! Stay tuned!!
